I have since discovered something interesting at Conrad. Namely a Aufrüstpad suitable for laptops / notebooks up to 10 "monitor. The pad is small enough to disappear completely under netbook. In this pad space for a slimline laptop CD / DVD drive and a 2 1 / 2 "S-ATA hard disk with 9.5 mm height. According to Conrad is only suitable up to 320 GB hard drives, I still have my 500GB Western Digital Notebook plate mounted and this is running correctly. downer's only holding is for the operation of the optical drive an extra power adapter is required with a 5V 2A. This is indeed included but transprottechnisch to store something modest. cradles doing all along ~ 450 grams including HD & DVD burner. When properly adjusted in the BIOS boot sequence inside a boot from CD / DVD or USB drive no Problem. The pad also includes a USB hub so that a required USB interface is doubled for the same pad behind the pad. So no real loss at the interfaces but rather an increase of USB ports. So ... now have fun with the PICs
